There are many a times that when we browse through the pages of a home interior magazine, we wished we could make our houses look like that. The furniture, the wall color and the wall art look so right on the pages of the book and yet when we try to replicate the theme we are not that successful. There could be many reasons for this. The most important reason being, we are unable to blend size with style. A wall art could look just right for our walls when we see at an artwork gallery. But when bought and brought home it rather seems incongruous and we end up being extremely disappointed.
May be we should look into the finer aspect of interior decoration. We must first of all choose the right size of furniture. Here it is not the cost factor that matters but the size factor. A very expensive large sofa set would look ridiculous in a medium size room. It could take quite a lot of room there, with the result that the entire room looks ridiculous and we may quite often trip and fall over them. The same thing goes for wall art too. A large wall art with a beautiful theme, coloring and texture would look magnificent when displayed at an artwork gallery, but would make a medium size room or wall look very small indeed. Again another important factor to consider here is the viewing distance of the painting. A large wall painting should be viewed from a distance. So it would surely not suit a medium or small room.
The best thing for us to do is to go in for wall art or furniture the size of which would be exactly right for the space there. A medium size wall art would look just right on a wall that is not too large or not too small. Depending upon the theme of the painting it should be so strategically placed to give the viewer the right distance to see and admire the artwork. Now here again one should look into the theme of the painting. A medium sized wall art could be a landscape, a seascape or a cityscape. All the three would need a safe distance to drink in the magnificence of the wall art. On the other hand if the wall art is of a floral theme or even it is a still life medium wall art, the distance could be a little less and for abstract art and other forms of contemporary art, depending on the theme one can view at closer quarters. So remember where you choose to hand your medium sized wall art should depend up on it theme and focal point of viewing.
